Education

2008 - 2009 MSc Environmental Design and Engineering

The Bartlet School of Graduate Studies, UCL

Selected Modules: Sustainable Design, Passive - Active Design, Data Analysis, Thermal Analysis Simulation, Lighting Design, Natural and Mechanical Ventilation Design, Health and Comfort in Buildings.

Thesis: Potential problems with complying with the Merton Rule: Case study Granville Centre. I identified specific problems and provided practical solutions for non-domestic buildings that attempt to generate 10% of the energy consumption with renewable systems (Merton Rule). I focused on a problematic case (Granville centre) that was sustainably designed but the renewable systems were underperforming.

2006 - 2008 MA in Architecture Engineering

Thesis: Confronting the Unexpected - emergency settlements (grade: 9.25/10). The project developed the idea of a compact transformable box that creates an internal, temporal living space. Construction details of the structure were studied and worked out on scale 1:1 resulting in a fulfilled construction assembly and design.

2002 - 2006 BSc in Architecture  Engineering

Relevant Modules: Architectural design, Urban and Regional Planning, Landscaping, Building Technology-Structural Design, Structural Detail design, Functionality and morphology of buildings, Site Analysis.

Vergina High School

Graduated: July 2002 First Class Honours (9.1/10)

Experience

2016 - 2018 Architectural Assistant at O'Neil architects (Leisure Concepts), Kenilworth, UK

Gained valuable experience regarding the process and the RIBA plan of works in delivering building projects in the UK. Gained experience in complying with the approved documents of building regulations (especially Part B, Part K, Part L & Part M).

  • Prepare complete planning, building warrant, tender and construction sets of drawings for Seton Sands Holiday Park indoor swimming pool in Edinburgh (£3 million project).

  • Assist with the delivery of Primrose Valley restaurant by producing detail drawings, keep updating drawings along the construction process and also collaborate with mechanical services engineers in designing the position of extractor pipes and restaurant supporting equipment in relation to the plan and elevations (£2.7 million project).

  • Being a member of the team in delivering the Lighthouse Restaurant project at Thornwick Bay Holiday Park.

  • Involved in several Holiday Parks future masterplan design and evolution.

2012 - 2016 Freelance Architect, Cyprus

Manage projects as the Lead Architect from the first client meeting to the planning application submission. Discuss briefs with clients and prepare concept scheme designs. Produce 2D, 3D and detail drawings, reports and documents for planning applications and manage projects’ development. Main projects:

  • Sustainable two-story house with planted roof garden and outdoor space designed to create microclimate conditions (for Cyprus hot environment).

  • Three bedrooms (220sqm) bungalow in countryside

  • Nursery school for 3+1 age groups of fifteen (2,3 and 4-5 y/o) and six children (up to 2 y/o)

  • Interior Design for one bedroom apartment after renovation plans.

2010-2012 Architectural Assistant at G&N Architects in Limassol, Cyprus

Architectural Design of public, educational, commercial, healthcare and residential buildings in a well-known Architectural firm in Cyprus. I was discussing with clients, explaining the concept of design and how this formulates structure to derive optimal solutions meeting their requirements and the specific building demands. Prepared complete drawing sets for multiple projects.

Selected projects:

  • Design of a Town Hall and Medical Centre building with multi-purpose educational community centre: actively participating in all steps during the project’s development, from the first concept based sketches to the development of detail drawings and all appropriate application procedures for the building authorization.

  • Deployed landscape design to integrate a national park with a public square, a restaurant and children playing yard for the purposes of Erimis Council.

  • Design several residential projects including a family house with an extended perforated front façade offering both privacy and views to the seaside and a house for a young family deploying different size of volumes and materiality to create a modern environment for the residents.

2009 -  Building Environmental Analyst at UCL Centre of Sustainable Heritage

St Paul’s Cathedral project: The project concerned changes in the internal environment of the temple. Simulation of the temple in Energy Plus predicted the potential changes in the comfort conditions (relative humidity, temperature). The main target was to provide solutions for avoiding degradation of the ancient exhibited books.

  • Attended client meetings and worked on site delivering the Air Change per Hour test.

  • Carried out a sensitivity analysis, changing different parameters of the model input data and compared final results to identify the possible solutions

  • Presented the results and proposed changes to the layout of the temple in order to avoid the predicted high humidity levels.
